James Cole joined AIC in February 2000 as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager. James has 24 years of investment experience, including 15 years as a portfolio manager responsible for Canadian equities. James has been lead portfolio manager of AIC Canadian Focused Fund since its inception and was appointed lead manager of AIC Canadian Balanced Fund in September 2002 and AIC Dividend Income Fund in September 2004.
Prior to joining AIC, James was a portfolio manager with Gluskin Sheff + Associates Inc. and prior to this, was Vice President and Portfolio Manager with Beutel, Goodman & Company Ltd. and also spent nine years as a securities analyst.
James holds a degree in Economics from Trent University and earned his CFA designation in 1986.

Our goal is to create long-term wealth for unitholders. We try to achieve this goal by following a well-proven and disciplined investment philosophy: We aim to buy excellent businesses in strong, long-term growth industries and we hold these investments for the long run.
