To us, this means sharing all aspects of our investment methodology (ie. philosophy and principles) and the reasons behind our investment decisions. We believe informed investors are better able to stay the course and will be well-rewarded over time.
esearch - We believe in the value of research. Our portfolio team conducts thorough research and makes investment decisions based on logic and reason. We buy excellent companies at reasonable prices. We buy companies that are domiciled in industries with strong, long-term growth potential. We hold companies within our portfolios for the long term.
ducation - We are committed to educating investors. We believe that educated investors are better able to keep emotions from eroding their investment goals and framework. For this reason, we help unitholders to understand the difference in behaviour between investors and speculators. By understanding the character traits, a true investor will have confidence during periods of short-term underperformance. We believe in educating investors whether its through the Five Laws of Wealth Creation; the difference between wealth creation versus money management; or Tax Smart Investing strategies.
ifferentiation - We believe in differentiating ourselves in the marketplace. We’ve done this by articulating our investment philosophy and principles since start-up. But more important, over the years, we’ve differentiated ourselves by demonstrating discipline and consistency in our behaviour. We do not deviate from our investment philosophy and principles, regardless of market pressures. We continue to meet our clients’ needs each and every day by preserving and growing their capital and minimizing their taxes.
